KAPWA Club
The Relational Heart of the Lola Zen Project
Kapwa is a Filipino concept that means “shared being.” Kapwa means “I am not separate from you.” Kapwa teaches that a person is not an isolated self, but a relational presence formed through family, community, ancestors, land, and spirit.
Before colonization, Kapwa was how people understood healing, learning, and belonging. When someone was in pain, the village gathered. When someone was confused, elders guided. When someone was grieving, stories were shared. No one was meant to walk alone.
Kapwa Club is the cultural healing and community education program of The Lola Zen Project. It is a space for people impacted by migration, colonization, diaspora, and cultural disconnection to come together and restore meaning, identity, and belonging.
